From the business

My name is Mark von Dohren and I started working in construction in 1975. I have worked on everything from framing houses on production crews to custom houses to being a superintendent on high-rise commercial buildings. In my career, I have had some tough but amazing mentors who were old-world craftsmen, and that is how I learned my craft. In 1984, I started M&M Builders, building decks and arbors. It started small but grew quickly and during that time I hired a young man named Joe Bettencourt. He had very little construction experience but was hired as a laborer. He was a great worker and had such a thirst for knowledge about carpentry and construction that I took him on as my carpenter apprentice. He worked beside me for 6 years and then started running his own crew. I taught him every aspect of construction and during that time he not only became an amazing craftsman, but we bonded, and he is like a son to me. His carpentry skills have even bettered mine and are one of the reasons M&M Builders has a reputation for craftsmanship and quality. Joe has either built or helped build 85% of the 400 pictures you see on DeckandArbor.com. After 20 years of working for me, it was time for Joe to get his own license. That is exactly what he did, and went on to create and open Bettencourt Builders. I am now retiring and proud to say that Joe is taking over the business. With Joe, you will get the same great quality we are known for along with excellent personalized service. Joe cares about what he does, and the people he works for, and is a fanatic for perfection.

It's all about listening to my clients, then designing and building to come up with Decks and Arbors that look and feel outstanding. With the right design and balance, my goal is to create for you a very special outdoor living area. With 32 years of experience, there is no other contractor with the passion I have to build something special for your family.

Giving Back
At M&M Builders, I believe in giving back to the community and society for all that I have been blessed with in this life. M&M Builders has donated just shy of $60,000 to local and world charities since its doors have been open. As long as I can create, build, and have a business that has given to me, I will continue to do what I can by doing charity work and donating to charities that I feel are worthwhile. You have my word on that.
